Eric Gardiner, Northern Relations Community Director, did a super presentation on job opportunities at Cameco. He particularly stressed opportunities for Northern residents and for summer students pursuing engineering or geology. Individual students in Megaen Reader's class shared their perspective on online learning and, we are happy to report, it is very positive. They really appreciate the way Megaen makes learning fun and technology makes it interesting. We presented our three charity choices for the year: 350.org, 100-School Challenge, and World Vision. Poll is open until 3:30 October 29. As Eric Gardiner reminded us, volunteerism is something that is considered in the hiring process. So vote and volunteer your time and talents to a worthy cause. Finally, there was a reminder that if you thinkb4speak, it goes a long way in the practice of gentleness.

Yes, type in pizza and your postal code. Megaen Reader, one of our very own eTeachers, lead an interactive session surveying many of Google's cool tools and features. At the opening, Principal Vince Hill reviewed expectations and encouraged everyone to vote. He mentioned Michael Moore's free movie download, Slacker Uprising, if anyone is wondering why they should bother voting.

TransGas has eight sections: Pipelines, Facilities, Operations, System Integrity, Support Services, Measurement, and Planning. As a distribution utility, SaskEnergy has Customer Service, Marketing and Sales, Construction, Stores, Engineering and Planning.
Budau then focused in on trades and technology, both of which are in high demand. Straight out of Grade 12, you may apply for a position as a Service Technician, Utility Operator, Operations Assistant, or Equipment Operator. The hourly rate for these range from $18.26 to $29.52. Other positions, that require a certificate (one year), diploma (two years), or degree, are District Mechanic Operator, Controls Technician, and Engineering Technologist. The hourly rates for these start at $20.53 and end at $32.89. However, Budau explained that some hourly rates are adjusted. Currently, some have a 9% increase to remain competitive.

She says that if she did pursue a post secondary career it would most likely be writing but, after modeling, it would definitely have to include travel. She gave her impressions of working in China, Japan, and other exotic locations. Rayner explained that of the different types of modeling; catalogs, show rooms, runway, and others, her favourite was the editorial photo shoots. Her agency has her scheduled to travel to New York, London, Paris, and Milan in the coming weeks to take part in the hectic casting sessions followed by fashion weeks.
