15-Jun-2011 Principal Tyrone MacPherson did an excellent job as master of ceremonies for CVHS's 6th celebration of student success. Prince Albert Mayor Jim Scarrow and Director of Education Vince Hill made opening remarks. Hidden between the lines of her valedictorian speech, are many of Rachael Andrews virtues. Andrews thought she was too old to return to school and feared failure but she found the courage to register. When she felt guilty for spending time on homework instead of her home life, she practiced determination by reminding herself "my sacrifice is temporary but I will be a high school graduate forever." She expressed thankfulness for her husband's and children's helpfulness and support. She said, "I would like to thank all my teachers, for making my learning experience at this school a fun and exciting one. Each and every one of them has helped me achieve my goal. I cannot thank them enough for all of their hard work. They are all amazing and dedicated teachers." Andrews ended with these words of encouragement, "I just want everybody to know it's never too late to follow a dream and with the right amount of determination you can accomplish anything—all you have to do is set your mind to it."

Dental Assistant

18-May-2011 Dental Assistant Denise Lang did an excellent job of presenting her career. While starting with the importance of manual dextrity, for example, enjoying Lego when you were young, she stressed the virtue of self-disciple and compassion. Most people are anxious about dental appointments. It is critical that the dental assistant deliberately choose a good attitude before going to work and find ways to put people at ease. Steve Winkler's Leadership 20 student presented a unique take on the virtue of self-displine that complimented the one discussed for dental assistants. That is, how you feel is how you choose to feel and you can be self-disciplined in your choice.

20-Apr-2011 Bruce Poelzer, a Heavy Duty Mechanic, finds his trade is in high demand and has worked coast to coast in Canada and half way around the world. Jason Hradecki Interprovincial Journey Person Truck and Trailer/Transport Mechanic explained the apprenticeship pre-employment program really opened employment doors. Both mechanics offer great tips on how to succeed in this challenging and rewarding work. Tracy McClurg Youth Apprenticeship Consultant outlined how high school students can start now on their hours and how the apprenticeship program supports anyone pursuing a trade. Thanks to Henry Jespersen's Native Studies 10 class for their joyful animated virtue presentation.

16-Feb-2011 The Social Responsibility student's virtues presentation on idealism was a perfect segue into their exciting introduction to our sponsor school in Tanzania. Our guest, Heather Kropp, was a teacher at the Amani School and her excellent presentation showed how we can help foster learning at this pre-kindergarten to Grade 4 school. Heather highlighted a particular need for books.

19-Jan-2011 With well researched virtue presentations, three of eTeacher Chris Friesen's Bio 20 students helped us understand how we can help our immune system, mitigate climate change, and save endangered animals. Future Path's Janet Uchacz-Hart did a web tour exploring the NOC feature at Saskatchewan JobFutures. Our guest speaker from Shore Gold Inc. Keiran Killick uncovered the amazing employment potential in the mining sector after establishing how important mining is to our lives. This industry predicts it will need 18,000 people by 2018. Killick listed the 120 different careers within the mining industry and mentioned in particular the need for engineers and heavy equipment operators.

15-Dec-2010 Future Path's Janet Uchacz-Hart focus on knowing yourself was the perfect segue for volunteer enthusiast Ashley Smidt. She presented a thorough overview of the 5w's of volunteering. She explained that the first "w", "who" is the most important; know thyself. One reason "why" you might consider volunteering is it feels good to do good. Check out the recording for the other w's and more including Darrel Harasymchuk's class virtue presentation on forgiveness.

17-Nov-2010 Good morning everyone and welcome to Credenda Flight 101. Captain Shaun Isaac will fly you through the ins and outs of becoming a pilot. Flying is his passion and he hopes today's presentation will provide you with the "cargo" you need to launch into the career of a pilot. Regrettably, connection problems prevented us from hearing from Future Path's Janet Uchacz-Hart. eTeacher Nick Jordan's ELA 10 and Info Pro 10 classes did a stellar job of presenting the virtue of acceptance with a student narrated ToonDo available at http://www.toondoo.com/ViewBook.toon?bookid=255954.

http://elluminate.credenda.net/play_recording.html?recordingId=1179157726828_1287589676846
20-Oct-2010 In this exciting assembly we heard from Avionics Technician Daniel Epp. He makes sure all those electronic instruments on planes work perfectly so you get to where you want to go safely. If you love flight and air planes and electronics, then this presentation will really interest you. Janet Uchacz-Hart from Future Paths shared another career tip and Vice Principal Megaen Reader's class raised the bar even higher with their interactive "Choose Your Own Adventure" story for the virtue of creativity.

15-Sep-2010 The Welcome assembly set the bar high for future assemblies. We heard from Director Vince Hill, Principal Tyrone McPherson, and Vice Principal Megaen Reader. Also with us was Future Paths Janet Uchacz-Hart. Janet will be joining us regularly to share tips on using Future Paths as a career planning tool. The Information Processing 20 Diva's did justice to the virtue humour with a great video.
