18-Jan-2012 Credenda Director Vince Hill opened the Assembly by speaking about our Virtue of the Week, flexibility. Teacher Chris Friesen shared a presentation about honour gathered from his Biology 20 class. It included a discussion about the misconceptions of (1) Young people have no respect and (2) Technology is ruining the moral fiber of today's youth. The class discussion showed a deep understanding of the virtue of honour. Friesen also announced the free canoe trip to the Churchhill River for all students at the end of May. You don't have to commit yet but if you are even slightly interested, send Chris an e-mail. Amy Friesen was announced as the Student of the Month. Raina Capito shared fascinating facts about being an occupational therapist including examples of working with individuals and running group therapy to enable people to better engage in occupations of life.

21-Dec-2011 We didn't need to look far for our welder. Tracy McClurg is the Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship Consultant who joins us regularly and she is among many other things, a certified welder. As well as Tracy's great overview, our Guidance Guy Steve Winkler urges anyone interested in welding to check out the SIIT Level 1 Welding Apprenticeship programs starting in Saskatoon, Regina, and North Battleford early in 2012. Thanks to Darrel Harasymchuk's Science 10 class for their take on trust. It ended with the powerful quote, "I've learned that it takes years to build up trust, and it only takes suspicion, not proof, to destroy it." anonymous. Below are a couple of screen grabs; one from our Student of the Month, Charmane Liliberte who gives us her thoughts on our motto, "Be the Change", and the other from the fun had by participants in the Credenda Christmas Open House hosted by Kristine Dreaver-Charles.

16-Nov-2011 Thanks to everyone who brought their pets in to our November assembly! After Principal Tyrone McPherson spoke to moderation, our week's virtue, we met our Student of the Month, Sarah Miller. Our Student of the Month is nominated by a teacher and is a great way to learn more about others attending Credenda. Sarah set the standard for slides very high as she obviously has graphic skills. There was tremendous student interest in learning about becoming a Veterinarian Technician. Unfortunately, our guest speaker was unable to join us so our guidance counselor Steve Winkler, told us all we needed to know. Check out Angela Packet's Math 30 students' amazing virtues slideshow sharing their thoughts on forgiveness.

19-Oct-2011 Our October assembly was plumb perfect in a number of ways. After introductions and birthday announcements, Henry Jespersen's Native Studies 30 class presented the virtue of creativity using pumpkins. Our techie Chris McAulay took us on a cool trip using Google maps to the exact location of the Amani School, our sister school, in Tanzania. Plumber Ron Lheureux did a great job of connecting us to the trade of plumbing, with Tracy McClurg, Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship Consultant, supplying details on the ins and outs of apprenticeship training. Note that while women are taking up trades, there are very few plumbers.

21-Sep-2011 Our intro assembly was big with information and participants. Guidance Counselor Steve Winkler summed up the exciting additions to our assembly. These include Student of the Month and birthdays. Returning as regular features are the career interview, FuturePaths' Janet Uchacz-Hart and Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship's Tracy McClurg. Vice principal and eTeacher Megaen Reader's Media class did the virtue as an interactive VoiceThread for Courage for you can contribute to. The big news was we have a sister           school in Tanzania! Check out our Global Service page for the Amani School's reply to our invitation.
