Cody-Joe Everett

Cody-Joe was a member of the Credenda community. He was a bright, assertive young man with big dreams and things he wanted to do in his life. He cared enormously for his family and said on more than one occasion that family and community were his first priorities. Through this he was deeply committed to his culture, with hunting and outdoor activities being a huge part of his life.

In school, he was an active participant in his classes. He had strong opinions and was always willing to share them. He was full of ideas for himself and his people, and his greatest ambitions were for his people not for himself.

One of Cody’s long-time Credenda teachers, Henry Jespersen, had this to say about Cody "I was aware of Cody-Joe also as a person who kept me on my toes, asking the hard-to-answer questions and not letting me get away with easy answers. He was concerned about justice and the historical connections and events that kept getting in its' way. I will miss our banter and his constantly making me hungry for fresh moose meat."
