Our History

Credenda

The Logo

The logo represents the three language groups within the Prince Albert Grand Council (PAGC). The wolf symbolizes the Dene; the trees and rock symbolize the Cree; and the teepee symbolizes the Dakota.

The values, Courage, Love, and Respect, signify the strong First Nations values that we want to emphasize within our school.

The combination of all three symbols on the Shield signify the unity between all First Nations for a common educational outcome.

The Need

Many of our First Nations youth from the North are unable to get the necessary science and math credits to enter directly into nursing, medicine, engineering, etc.

The PAGC schools have successfully graduated basic generalists, who often enter an upgrading program at University before entering into engineering, medicine, or any other specialty program. This is not the school's fault; they simply do not have the volume of students that are interested in courses like; Physics 30, Calculus 30, Math B30 and C30.

With the PAGC's leadership, who have put their full support behind this E-learning initiative to address these concerns, we have combined a highly academic program with a qualified staff, who are committed to excellence.

We provide a wide-range of maths and sciences, in addition to a variety of other course offerings. For a full list of courses, click here to see what we are offering.

The Name

We tried to come up with a name that would represent all the bands in the PAGC area. We could not use a Cree name, because that would leave out the Dene and Dakota, and so on. We needed to come up with a name that would speak to the ideals of this project. So we came up with this:

Credenda = Cree + Dene + Dakota

The word Credenda illustrates the merging of all the language groups of PAGC into one word and one world; bringing everyone together for one common purpose to learn, to excel, and to believe.

Interestingly, the word, Credenda has Latin and French roots, meaning: "A thing to be believed."

At the PAGC, we believe in our youth; we believe in their potential; we believe in providing them with a quality education that will open up more opportunities for a brighter future.
